Six Sentence Sunday

From CEOs Don't Cry:

“Just a minute!” shouted a deep voice from the ceiling, before a boot crashed through a stained tile, sending soggy chunks raining down on Leslie’s head. “Crap.”
“What in the world?” she hissed, flicking a hunk of tile off her shoulder.  This podunk place probably didn’t even have a decent dry cleaner, she thought, eyeing the water mark on her suit.
Booted feet slid out of the hole, followed by worn dusty jeans, a t-shirt and muscular arms. Leslie’s arms relaxed around her briefcase.  She wouldn’t mind seeing that descend from her ceiling on occasion.

Six Sentence Sunday

From work in progress Locations of the Heart:

“You’ve been seeing actual ghosts at the Lilac Bower? You didn’t say anything,” Edith said, peering at the man’s gadget.

Minnie gave her a look. Edith had better not blow this.

Edith’s eyes widened and she gasped. “Oh. Oh. Yes!  I heard those noises too.” She nodded emphatically. “Ver-ry creepy.”

That performance wasn’t going to win Edith an Oscar, but the ghost hunters didn’t seem to notice.

Six Sentence Sunday

From my current work in progress Locations of the Heart:

Derek’s countenance sobered.  Whatever it was very serious.  “I have it in my power to make you a very wealthy woman.”

“You represent Elvis Presley’s estate and he actually left Graceland to me?” Minnie knew he’d meant it when he pointed at her during that concert in Vegas right before he died and sang “Love Me Tender.” He longed for her, even though they never met.
